What is tested on a motorhome MOT?
A motorhome MOT checks the same roadworthiness items as a car, with extra attention on the things that matter for a heavy, high vehicle.
Brakes and suspension
Motorhomes are heavy, so brake performance, pipes, hoses, springs and dampers all get a close look.
Tyres
Tread, sidewall condition and load rating. Motorhome tyres often age before they wear, so cracking is worth checking.
Seatbelts
Every belt fitted to a travelling seat, including those in the living area, must be secure and work properly.
Lights and visibility
All exterior lights, marker lamps, mirrors, wipers and the windscreen.
Body and structure
Chassis, corrosion and the security of bike racks, towbars and other fittings.
Exhaust and emissions

How much is a motorhome MOT?

Can you MOT large motorhomes?
Yes. Our large testing bay is built to take big vehicles, including the tall and long motorhomes that many test centres simply cannot fit.
Does the MOT check my habitation area, gas or electrics?
No. The MOT covers the roadworthiness of the vehicle: brakes, lights, steering, suspension, tyres, seatbelts, structure, emissions and so on. Gas, electrics, water and damp in the living area are not part of the MOT. Those are covered by a separate habitation check from a specialist.
How long does a motorhome MOT take?
Usually around an hour. You can wait with a brew, or let us know if you would like us to collect it.
